[Audiobook] The Wretched of Muirwood, Legends of Muirwood Book 1

Hey guys! So recently I picked up a new series after reading a couple non-fiction and classics books (sometimes the system needs a detox from all those love triangles and messy drama plot twists) and I thought I’d let you all know that you should pick it up for a read!

In the ancient and mystical land of Muirwood, Lia has known only a life of servitude. Labeled a “wretched,” an outcast unwanted and unworthy of respect, Lia is forbidden to realize her dream to read or write.

All but doomed, her days are spent toiling away as a kitchen slave under the charge of the Aldermaston, the Abbey’s watchful overseer. But when an injured squire named Colvin is abandoned at the kitchen’s doorstep, an opportunity arises.

The nefarious Sheriff Almaguer soon starts a manhunt for Colvin, and Lia conspires to hide Colvin and change her fate. In the midst of a land torn by a treacherous war between a ruthless king and a rebel army, Lia finds herself on an ominous journey that will push her to wonder if her own hidden magic is enough to set things right.

At once captivating, mysterious, and magic-infused, The Wretched of Muirwood takes the classic fantasy adventure and paints it with a story instantly epic, and yet, all its own.

Atomic Blonde (2017)

God, how lucky is it that I don’t have to pay for movies when I want to watch them. Otherwise I’m sure I would have been a bit more disappointed with my visit this weekend

Atomic Blonde was one of those movies I was really excited about watching. It starred a kickass woman who was out on a mission (what mission, I had no idea what when I watched the trailer), who was good at hand to hand combat, and who had really cool white hair. Guys, white hair is one of my weaknesses (remembers all the white haired anime boys in my life)

So what is this movie about?

Johnlock Fanfiction | Latent by Hisstah

I figured I’d keep to my roots and start talking about some fanfiction because I need an outlet to some of the feelings I get. Plus, maybe someone might like to check this out 😉

I hear a lot of people mention that once they reach college, pulling all-nighters is something they need to do (a lot). I’ve never been able to do one successfully. Fast forward a couple years and add Johnlock to the mix and I AM THERE

Not exactly an all-nighter but very close. You see, I started reading this story called Latent by Hisstah on ao3 and completely fell in love with it! I started at some random time during the day and kept reading well into the night and next day. I had to go to work in the morning but even so I kept reading. Next thing I knew the birds were out chirping, my dad had gone to work, it was time for me to take my brother to work, my mom left for her morning workout, and I was only a few hours away from needing to leave for my job

I got 1 hour of restless sleep because I couldn’t put down this story

What is Art? by Leo Tolstoy

I picked this book up while browsing through Half Priced Books one day. For some reason a lot of my latest purchases have consisted of classics books and while most of them I’ve bought for the purpose of reading a classic, I bought this book because I was genuinely curious about the answer to the question it poses

As an art student I spent a lot of my time learning how to work different media but none of my classes ever touched upon what art was. For most of my years as a student I just figured, “well, it’s probably obvious” and never asked. The one time I did ask was during a beginning photography class where I was confused about how photography was art. I thought we’d get the answer to that by the end of the class but I never really learned how photography was art Continue reading

La Belle et la Bete (vs. Disney’s Beauty and the Beast)

I’m not sure if I’ve mentioned this before or not but I am a HUGE Beauty and the Beast fan. It was my favorite princess movie from the classics and I went to watch the live adaptation when it came out this year. Then while I was browsing Netflix I learned that there was another one?! Obviously I had to watch it!

This Beauty and the Beast movie is actually really different from the “original”. For one, Belle has 5 other siblings, 2 sisters and 3 brothers. In this movie they all live together in a mansion but have lost their money and are going to live in a cottage in the country. Like all sisters in princess movies, Belle’s sisters think she’s the weird one, they like their fancy dresses, and they’re not as pretty.  Continue reading
