God, how lucky is it that I don’t have to pay for movies when I want to watch them. Otherwise I’m sure I would have been a bit more disappointed with my visit this weekend
Atomic Blonde was one of those movies I was really excited about watching. It starred a kickass woman who was out on a mission (what mission, I had no idea what when I watched the trailer), who was good at hand to hand combat, and who had really cool white hair. Guys, white hair is one of my weaknesses (remembers all the white haired anime boys in my life)
So what is this movie about?
I managed to go and check out Wonder Woman soon after it came out (actually, maybe the day after? I remember going to watch it after work) and I’m having mixed feelings about it. Part of me likes it, part of me isn’t too convinced about the ending and the ending is really important in helping me figure out if I like a movie, and another part is saying, well what did you expect from a superhero movie?
So Wonder Woman is about…well Amazon Diana, the Wonder Woman. It’s set during the first WW, somewhere near the end where the armistice starts coming into play. One day, after she’s finished training, Diana heads out near the ocean and sees a plane fall out of the sky. She goes to save the driver and finds a man inside. His arrival soon leads to a beach battle between the Germans and the Amazons Continue reading
I’ve heard of the Mummy movies before and when I saw that this movie was coming out I wasn’t sure if I should go watch it. Lately I feel like there are a lot of sequels coming out and me being the non-movie watcher that I am, wouldn’t understand references to prequels. Of course, then I heard that this movie had nothing to do with the series and I figured I’d give it a chance
The Mummy takes place in the present where Nick and his friend Chris are in Iraq for some treasure hunting, but end up in a bind that requires air support from his army comrades (I have no idea what group he’s in). When they end up bombing the place they’re situated at, the floor caves in and the tomb of princess Ahmanet is revealed. Continue reading
I think I’m starting to get into the habit of watching a movie every few days, and next up on my list of Martin Freeman filmography was Hot Fuzz, a movie that’s a tad more my genre (compared to Love Actually)
Hot Fuzz follows Police Constable Nicholas Angel, who gets transferred out of London and to Sandford, Gloucestershire, which is out in the country. He tries to fight this transfer, however, his policing skills are so badass that it makes everyone look like lazy bums in comparison…and they want him out. Having no choice in the matter, Nick leaves for Sandford and on his first night he notices that the law is being broken left and right, all for the “greater good” the townspeople claim
Determined to set things straight, Nick continues his strict policing and later finds himself in the center of a string of ‘accidental’ deaths Continue reading
Hey guys! Looks like I’m just bombarding this place with movie reviews…but I can’t help it! Lately I’ve just been watching a bunch of movies. So, quick first impression: I watched the preview for Fate of the Furious and was instantly feeling mixed. What was going on that Dom was now the “evil” character and now an apparently impossible to catch guy? I went to watch this movie with these thoughts in mind
Fate of the Furious seems to continue where 7 left off. Dom and Letty are on their honeymoon and everything seems peaceful…until a woman named Cipher appears in Cuba where Dom is living it up and blackmails him into joining her forces. With Dom turned rogue, the gang is now rounded up (minus Brian) to get him back and stop Cipher from starting WW3 Continue reading
